My teaching goals (from March 2009!)

I’ve just been clearing out my files, and discovered this document, which I sat down and wrote after going to a conference in Brno during my first year of professional teaching. As far as I can remember, it was the first conference I’d been to, and it was certainly well before I knew about Twitter or blogs.

Teaching aims from 2009
Teaching aims from 2009

I’ve managed to achieve all of my short-term goals (I think!), and all but one of my medium-term goals, Delta results pending. I’m not yet a Cambridge examiner. As for the long-term goals, watch this space…

  1. Oh, I think it’s great to find this flashback and to see how much you’ve already achieved and where to go next. Have any of your long-term goals changed, by the wah? Or have you got any new ones since then?
I suppose it’ s a very good example of setting professional goals and professional development altogether!

      1. Celta or Delta is a highly valuable goal, too, so good luck with that! as for me, I can’t be as structured as you are, but mostly the goals are all around professional development (keeping up my level), probably making Delta, and becoming a published ELT writer. I am now on maternity leave, but I hope to be able to start doing something to achieve my very-long-term-goals)

  2. Dear Sandy,
So interesting to read the goals you set in 2009 and see how you have managed to achieve all of them, yes, Delta is pending but I am optimistic (by nature). You might not know but I met you in Twitter and I have been following you since 2010. Somehow I have been a witness of how much you have achieved and I love learning from you and with you.
Very honestly I wish I could be better at setting goals. I am not even able to achieve my daily goal that is walking for 30 minutes. But I will not give up 🙂

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”-Jim Rohn (for you Sandy)

“The American lives even more for his goals, for the future, than the European. Life for him is always becoming, never being.”- Albert Einstein (Albert didn’t know me, I am a South American being)

And yes, I would like to know if you have added new goals to your 2009 list.

    1. Thank you very much Debbie!
And I’ve managed to start walking more because I downloaded an app called striiv – it’s really addictive! Good luck with your aims.
